On 3 June 2026, Mattias Klum will open the HELMEPA International Conference at Posidonia in Athens with an inspiration session on the role of the ocean, biodiversity and human responsibility in a rapidly changing world.
The conference, titled “Ocean Intelligence in MetaShipping: Biodiversity – People – Innovation – Investment”, brings together four interconnected forms of intelligence: ecological, human, technological and financial. The programme will explore key issues ranging from biodiversity and crew skilling to AI, automation and investment in the energy transition.
Mattias Klum will set the tone for the conference, which takes place during Posidonia 2026, one of the world’s leading maritime exhibitions. The event will gather shipowners, maritime leaders, policymakers, regulators, financiers, academics, innovators and the next generation to discuss where shipping is heading and how the industry can contribute to a more sustainable future.
The conference is organised by HELMEPA, the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association, and will take place at the Posidonia Conference Hall, Metropolitan Exhibition Centre, Athens, from 10:30 to 14:30.
